*We have made it halfway through our series of 12 posts discovering just a small part of what there is to do and see in North Central Kansas.*

Just under 50 miles away from Alton, Kansas via US-24 E is the city of Beloit found in Mitchell county.

In Beloit, Kansas you will find the beautiful Chautauqua park and during the Christmas season the Chautauqua Isle of Lights.

Established in 1999 the Isle of Lights committee took full advantage of the horseshoe-shaped Chautauqua park. The circling roadway through the park is lined with small lights to lead vehicle occupants on a tour of the Spirit of Christmas. Over 70 lighted displays are arranged into categories from religious to winter wonderland, from patriotism to Toyland. Displays range from humorous to thought-provoking and are lit every night from 6 pm to 10 pm beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through New Year’s Eve.

There is currently no charge to view these Christmas light displays but a donation box is available for those able to help support this beautiful holiday experience.

And don’t forget that Beloit is just a short drive away from Alton, Kansas where you’ll find The Craft Basket and one of the best holiday shopping experiences in the area!
